Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. At the age of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes in acting, singing and dancing. When she was 10, she had already taken part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were selected as three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It was also the most successful film during 2001. Opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. Reviewers praised the film, and especially the young performers. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma's performance received nominations and won five awards later for the film.
